Two Great Jobs for Social Entrepreneurs

Following this morning's career advice post, its nice to be able to point people towards some exciting opportunities.

First, education startup campusCatalyst is looking for a Program Director who will transition to an Executive Director:

Started in 2007 by two Northwestern University graduates looking for innovative ways to improve human capital and access to knowledge in the social sector, campusCATALYST (cC) is a trailblazing nonprofit that partners with top universities to offer undergraduates a unique for-credit course on nonprofit management and social impact consulting. Students, guided by MBA student mentors, participate on teams that provide high-impact pro bono consulting for community-based organizations too small to otherwise access advisory services. While driving meaningful change in their community, students undergo intense leadership development and business mentorship in their coursework, at the same time being trained in a cross-sector approach to social change.

cC catalyzes nonprofits, communities and the next generation of cross-sectoral leaders by engaging them in high-impact, pro-bono consulting partnerships with community-based nonprofits...cC is looking for an entrepreneurial and dynamic individual to serve as Program Director. Assuming high-caliber job performance, it is expected that the Program Director will transition into the Executive Director position in early 2010.

Next, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is looking for an Interim Social Entrepreneur in Residence to help design and establish a full-time position to support social entrepreneurship and innovation on UNC's campus.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a champion of campus social enterprise who will be supported by the Department of Public Policy, the Kenan-Flagler School of Business, the College of Arts & Sciences, the Campus Y, and Seeds. This preliminary, exploratory position will go to a part-time contract worker who will convene the necessary stakeholders, fully define the scope of a full-time position, and seek funds from donors and foundations for an established position in the fall of 2009.

The social entrepreneur in residence will be a mid-career entrepreneur and/or social change agent looking for the intellectual stimulation of academia and the ability to connect people and resources. S/he will be the "social cement" and champion of social enterprise at UNC, have a great desire to interact with young social entrepreneurs, and show independence and initiative in forming a broad coalition of campus resources.
