Innovation Watch: Shredded Newspaper Jackets

Published December 22, 2008 @ 09:45AM PT

A Canadian Ad Agency, Taxi, has developed a jacket insulated with newspapers designed for homeless people who suffer through brutally cold winter weather. Steve Mykolyn, Taxi's executive creative director, tested the jacket by standing in an industrial freezer for eight hours. This year, in lieu of holiday gifts for staff, clients, and suppliers, Taxi is working with the Salvation Army to distribute 3,000 jackets. Some of the costs are being paid for by an auction which sold celebrity-signed jackets, but they are still looking for corporate sponsors to scale the program.
