Petition for a Resolution Recognizing World Game Changer Day 11.04.09

To: The U.S. House, The U.S. Senate and The Governor

Started by: Dr. Raye Mitchell

‘We the People' celebrate World Game Changer Day ‘09 as a viral celebration and invitation to all those change agents who made the historic change movement and U.S. election a reality to unite to keep the change movement alive and well. ‘We the People' set the inaugural WGCD for November 4, 2009, the first anniversary of the historic change movement of 2008 reflecting the renewed spirit of volunteerism, social change leaderships, and multicultural inclusion and igniting a movement for public and private social responsibility. Yes, it is marking the anniversary of the election and the orderly working of the power of the people as the ultimate game-changing move and the ability of the people to make change and lead change through the election process.

‘We the People' desire to keep the change movement as a high priority on the national and global agenda.  We are not looking backwards, but looking forward and continuing to engage the voices of change in generating real and sustainable change. World Game Changer Day ‘09 is a call to action to  the change agents of the world to come together on November 4 and not just celebrate the victory again, but to pledge and spotlight new change initiatives. We call upon our elected officials to affirm Congress's support of the unprecedented global event of the change movement and recognize the power of the people to lead change and to support this important tool to create sustainable change.

Recognizing World Game Changer Day and the Power of the Change Movement

Dear Representative,

We the people have spoken. On November 4, 2008, we sent a resounding message to our national leaders and the global community that we the people demand change and on that date as a result of the hard work and committed efforts of hundreds of thousands of American voters--change came to America and the global community.

We the people did not just ignite political change, we ignited the change movement of 2008 as a statement of our drive and determination to make change on all levels if vital issues of concern.

We the people sent a message that we will lead change with increased volunteerism and service to the national and global community. We will lead change in attacking national and global social problems through innovation and creating more social entrepreneurs. We will lead change through demanding higher ethnical performance in the marketplace and corporate responsibility. We will lead change and require increased corporate responsibility in diversity inclusion in business leadership, tolerance in our actions, fair and honest marketing communications, and protection of the environment. We will lead change with a drive for green jobs and clean tech. We will lead change to improve the quality of life for our national and the global community.

We the people changed the game to ensure that our leaders are actively engaged in a national and global agenda that will improve the quality of our collective lives and communities.

We the people now, therefore declare November 4, 2009 the inaugural World Game Changer Day as the day set in history and going forward as the day we recognize the national and global community of change agents that are and will create sustainable change. We now urge our congressional leaders to follow the will of the people and keep change moving forward and focused on creating sustainable change to create solutions of national and global social and important issues.

We the people recognize World Game Changer Day as not just the day to not simply to reconnect, celebrate, and remember a victory in the past; World Game Changer Day is a chance to inspire and be inspired again. World Game Changer Day is a day that people across American and around the world global community can send a powerful, engaging message to world leaders that we the people will define the next phase in the lifecycle of the change movement and that we the people will not allow the change movement to be reduced to a passing fad or phenomenon.

We the people resolve that the change movement shall remain on the national and global agenda as a tool of the power of people uniting behind issues and missions of purpose.
We the people recognize the power World Game Changer Day as an unprecedented global vote for unifying to create sustainable change for the future of our national and global community.

We the people are ordinary people around the world, engaged, making our voices heard and creating substantive change. World Game Changer Day is our day for uniting to remind world leaders that the change movement shall not go away.
We the people recognize that history is in our favor. Earth Day started a mere forty years ago by a small group of organizes who wanted to thrust the issue of the environment onto the national and global agenda. Today it is celebrated in over 170 countries. Earth Day is truly a great example of the power of we the people to expand awareness and sustain a cause through a relatively simple act of acknowledgement and engagement.

We the people successfully lead The City of Oakland, California to step forward as our first public institution to take lead on this important initiative to celebrate November 4, 2009 as the Inaugural World Game Changer Day. We will move other public institutions to recognize our power on local and state levels.

We the people now the call for a congressional resolution and will write our national representatives to urge introduction of a congressional resolution that recognizes the power of World Game Changer Day to mobilize public opinion on the critical issue of creating sustainable change and affirms Congress’s support of the unprecedented global event of the change movement.

PROCLAMATION
WORLD GAME CHANGER DAY
Whereas, World Game Changer Day is a “viral” celebration and invitation to all the change agents who inspired a nation and its citizenry to revisit their unprecedented, historic role as “We the People”; and
Whereas, Inaugural World Game Changer Day is November 4, 2009, a day marking the anniversary of an historic election, wherein the American people exercised their Constitutional right to vote in the 56th quadrennial United States presidential elections as proscribed in our nation’s most fundamentally core document, a document that has withstood the test of time and challenge and continues to provide the orderly working of the power of the people; and
Whereas, World Game Changer Day is established to renew our nation’s collective spirit of volunteerism, social change leadership, multicultural inclusion and reignite public and private social responsibility as we celebrate the ability of “We the People” to make and lead change; and
Whereas. World Game Changer Day is a call to action for each citizen to continue moving forward between election cycles, to take personal responsibility and to continue the work at the grassroots level of its citizenry, the most powerful source for real and sustainable change as we collectively strive to protect our freedoms as set forth in the United States Constitution; and
Whereas, World Game Changer Day challenges change agents of this nation to pick their issue, make their pledge to an ideal or idea, and organically host game changer events on November 4th 2009, in a spontaneous movement to demonstrate again the power of the people to create and lead change; and
Whereas, World Game Changer Day invites citizens of the world to join in this effort –– to reach beyond the status quo, to challenge the typical, work from new starting positions and forge new alliances creating new platforms to produce new results; and
Whereas, Game Changers are people willing to invest time and effort to commit to an action and our national collective future as “We the People” and citizens of the world;
Therefore be it resolved that “We the People” do hereby and henceforth proclaim November 4, 2009 the first Annual “World Game Changer Day.”
